Plastic Free July has generated a lot of hype in recent years, but not near as much action follows suit. What does Plastic Free July even mean? Well, the gang at the Plastic Free Foundation define it as:
'Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities.'
Now that's a movement we want to be a part of! Take a look at the challenges we're setting ourselves for the month of July in hopes to cut down our plastic consumption and continue to do so beyond July. Want to join in? Please do, and remember; progress over perfection. 💚

I am vowing to only use my keep-cup for hot drinks to cut down completely on single-use plastic and packaging when it comes to sipping on a hot cuppa.
No keep-cup = no Chai!

For Plastic Free July and beyond, my wife Ivie and I are going to stick to using only compostable bin liners.
These bags often leak, are not as strong and tear up easily which can result in a bit of mess sometimes. BUT, it’s all worth the extra housekeeping if we can reduce our plastic use!
Did you know - Marine wildlife sadly commonly ingest micro and household plastics as they mistake it for algae, causing them all kinds of health problems? Let's do our bit for them!

For the month of July and (hopefully) beyond, I'll be avoiding food packed in plastic. Instead, I plan on sourcing raw ingredients or foods in bulk.
Wish me luck!

I am going to use Plastic Free July as an opportunity to explore ways in which A bit Hippy as a business can cut down on plastic consumption.
Whether that's evaluating our waste system in the office i.e our soft plastics waste recycling bin or even adding more paper packaging options to our range for products like Deodorant and Lip Balm.
Got a mighty fine idea? Let us know - we're planning on making some long-term change!
